Honors Concert and Exhibit

More than 300 St. Paul Public Schools student vocalists, musicians and artists will showcase their work at the 17th annual Honors Concert, Art Exhibit and World Party on Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

 

The event is a collaborative effort of Saint Paul Public Schools, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and Minnesota Museum of American Art. It provides a professional experiences and a community celebration of Saint Paul Public School students' knowledge, skills, efforts and talents. The World Party, which occurs prior to the concert, involves K-8 students. The concert and exhibit involves students in grades 9-12.

 

Beginning in January 2008, high school students will submit original paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and other works of art, or participate in rigorous band, choral and orchestral auditions.

 

The artwork selected will be on exhibit at the Minnesota Museum of American Art with an opening reception on April 22, 2008.  Several student works will be chosen to receive awards from Saint Paul Public Schools, Wet Paint Art Materials, College of Visual Art, and Ordway Circle of Stars. Music students who are selected to participate will perform in concert in Ordway Center’s Main Hall under the direction of conductors Claudette Laureano, Matthew Mehaffey and Dr. Amy Rosium Foley.

• Features small instrumental and vocal student ensembles from

St. Paul elementary and junior high schools and is free for Concert ticket holders.
